PIPE CALC – The #1 ASME Pipe Dimension Calculator for Engineers
PIPE CALC is Enerteq’s purpose-built pipe dimension calculator engineered for pipeline integrity, hot tap, and line stop professionals. Select a pipe size from 1/2″ to 42″ and a schedule, then press Calculate. PIPE CALC calculates pipe OD, wall thickness and ID using ASME B36.10 and B36.19 data and fills in the Hot Tap Equipment Planner and Cutter Travel sections below. In the planner, press Find My Tools & Equipment to see the best-fit Propipe equipment for your application, each with a Request A Quote button. In Cutter Travel, enter your measurements and press Calculate Cutter Travel. How to Use PIPE CALC
- Select the pipe.
In PIPE CALC, select the pipe size (NPS) and schedule. The schedule list shows only the schedules defined for the size you select. - Press Calculate.
PIPE CALC shows the OD, wall thickness and ID, opens the Hot Tap Equipment Planner and Cutter Travel sections, and fills in the run size, OD and wall. Pipe under 2″ is not carried into the planner. - Complete the application.
In the Hot Tap Equipment Planner, check or change the operation (hot tap, or hot tap plus line stop), tap size and pressure class, and enter the operating pressure and temperature. If these are blank, PIPE CALC fills in hot tap, Class 150# and a 4″ tap (or the run size for runs under 4″). - Press Find My Tools & Equipment.
The planner lists one best-fit Propipe product for each item, with a Request A Quote button. Equipment is shown only after you press this button. Changing an input clears the list; press the button again to update it. - Enter the cutter travel measurements.
In Cutter Travel, enter the measurements taken on the assembled equipment, as described in the machine manual. Find My Tools & Equipment fills in the recommended machine and cutter OD; you can change them or enter your own. - Press Calculate Cutter Travel.
The travel results are shown and checked against the machine stroke. - Request a quote.
Use Request A Quote on any item, or on the full equipment list, to send the equipment and application to Enerteq.
Reset: each section has its own Reset button. Reset in PIPE CALC clears all three sections and closes the planner and Cutter Travel sections.

Run size, OD and wall carry over from PIPE CALC when you press Calculate. Choose the operation (hot tap, or hot tap plus line stop), tap size and pressure class, enter operating pressure and temperature, and press Find My Tools & Equipment. The PIPE CALC planner then recommends one best-fit Propipe product for each item: hot tap machine, power, adapter, slim valve, fitting, cutter and pilot drill, and for line stops the housing, head and actuator. Recommendations come from Enerteq’s data sheets, and the planner flags any rating the application exceeds. - Cutter Travel Calculation
PIPE CALC uses the Propipe measurement method from the machine manuals: A, B, Ref1 and cutter OD for PTM-2000 and larger machines, and the PTM-1000 method (travel, cutting distance and threaded plug setting reading) for PTM-1000 jobs. - Why don’t I see equipment recommendations?
Recommendations appear only after you press Find My Tools & Equipment. Changing any planner input clears the list; press the button again to update it. - Does PIPE CALC fill in the planner?
Yes. When you press Calculate, the run size, OD and wall carry into the Hot Tap Equipment Planner and Cutter Travel for pipe 2″ and larger. You can change any value. - What pipe sizes and schedules does PIPE CALC cover?
